If you wish to speak,

there will be an opportunity for citizen input.

MDC Office Building

555 Main Street, 2nd Floor, Hartford

Across from Atheneum  / Corner of Wells and Main St.

Why is This Action Necessary?

  1. A federal jury just found William A. DiBella, a lobbyist and former state Senate Democratic leader, liable for violations of federal securities laws in a deal where he received a $374,500 "finder's fee" for a few minutes of work in landing a state pension-fund investment for a client.  Click the following weblink to continue  Journal Inquirer – DiBella broke law, jury says

  1. The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) is embarking on a massive, over $2 billion overhaul of the region's sewer system which will be financed by State and municipal taxpayers and ratepayers.

  1. On Wednesday,  May 23, 2007, at 5 PM at the MDC Office Building at Main Street, Hartford a meeting has been called to consider a no confidence vote and ask for the resignation of William DiBella.

What is the MDC?

  1. The Metropolitan District (MDC) is a non-profit municipal corporation chartered by the Connecticut General Assembly in 1929 to provide potable water and sewerage services on a regional basis.

  1. The MDC provides services to eight member municipalities -- Bloomfield, East Hartford, Hartford, Newington, Rocky Hill, West Hartford, Wethersfield and Windsor -- and to portions of other towns in the region. Their services are paid for by taxpayers and ratepayers.

  1. The MDC Commissioners names and the towns they were appointed by can be found at the following website:  http://www.themdc.com/board.htm.  The Governor and State legislature also appoint members to the Board.

How Can I Help?

1.      Attend the May 23 MDC Meeting at 5 PM

2.      Contact Governor Rell and ask her

a.      To personally and publicly seek the resignation of William DiBella from the MDC Commission.

3.      Governor Rell can be reached….

a.      Call (860) 566-4840 or 800-406-1527 or

b.      Email  Governor.Rell@po.state.ct.us

4.      Determine if your town is represented on the MDC.  http://www.themdc.com/board.htm.  If so, contact your Town Manager or Mayor and ask them to attend the MDC Meeting of May 23.  Ask them to also encourage their appointees to the MDC to support the call for the resignation of William DiBella.

4.   As State Funding will be utilized to facilitate the $2 billion MDC

project, if your town is not represented on the MDC, your municipal leaders

and state representatives have a vested interest in having William DiBella

removed from the MDC Commission.  Please contact them and ask them to

attend this meeting and to support the call for William DiBella’s removal.

5.      Contact the news media and ask that they publicly support William DiBella’s removal from the MDC.
